Private Social Security Accounts are a Good Thing
There is a lot of heated debate regarding social security. We should first discuss what the program known as social security is!! The official social security site has a lot of recources one may find useful. What social security is, is a garnish on your wages that is often times larger than federal income tax withholdings. This money is put intoa system that pays benifits to people 62 and older (65 is the age for full benefits).
What our governemnt is worried about now is the retirees-to-workers ratio. The current system cannot be maintained as it is currently run. More benifits are being paid out than are taken in.
Our great president has laid out a plan for private social security accounts. This is the best and most fair solution. The problem with the anti-privitization people is that they are socialists. They may not realize this but this is just one example of redistribution of wealth, as under the current system, individuals with their own retirement benifits get less social security than someone who does not. This is the same problem with universial health care. Our country is not a socialist one and should not have socialist policies.
When social security was being proposed by Roosevelt many members in the justices threatend to vote it as unconstitutional. Only when truman threated to flood the courts with justices that shared his opinion did the justices allow the system to be implemented. Not only is social security unconstitutional it is SOCIALIST. We live in a capitolist economy where everyone has equal oppourtiunity to succeed. I for one do not want my hard earned money given to some bum who decided he would live off our governments social programs. This is why I support the private accounts president proposes, not only are they protected but they are transferrable to your children.
If you disagree with me you are wrong, but we can discuss feel free to email me shazbot_cs@hotmail.com please include "Social Security discussion" (minus quotations) in the topic.
